The Guard Sarzamin Pars Group, in collaboration with Iranians of Halifax, has made every possible effort during this period to hold local officials accountable to the people of Iran.
Below is a portion of these efforts: each night, a carefully prepared email is written and sent to a local official. The content of these emails is listed below, organized by date. This post will be continuously updated.
It is important to note that throughout the course of the Iranian revolution, Iranians of Halifax and the Guard Sarzamin Pars Group have remained actively engaged—both on social media and through daily public gatherings—doing everything in their power to ensure that this revolution continues its path with strength, visibility, and determination.

Request for a Clear Position by Nova Scotia in Support of the Iranian People
1st Night:
Honorable Tim Houston
Premier of Nova Scotia
Dear Premier Houston,
We are writing to you as residents of Halifax and the Province of Nova Scotia, with deep concern regarding the ongoing and escalating situation in Iran
Over the past weeks, the Islamic Republic of Iran has carried out a large-scale and systematic crackdown on the Iranian people. More than forty thousand Iranians have been killed, and the violence, arrests, and repression continue unabated. These actions constitute grave crimes against humanity and must be clearly and unequivocally condemned.
We respectfully call on your office to take a transparent and principled position by publicly condemning the crimes of the Islamic Republic and expressing firm solidarity with the people of Iran.
It is also important to emphasize that what is taking place in Iran is not merely a protest movement. It is a nationwide revolution with a clear objective: the end of the current regime and a transition toward a democratic and secular future. The Iranian people are demanding regime change, and this reality deserves recognition by democratic governments and leaders.
In this context, we urge you to acknowledge the leadership of Prince Reza Pahlavi as the widely recognized leader of the Iranian revolution and the transitional process, and to recognize the Iranian people’s call for a transitional government that reflects their will and aspirations.
As residents of Nova Scotia, we believe that our province has a moral responsibility to stand on the right side of history, by defending human dignity, supporting freedom, and standing with people who are risking their lives for fundamental rights.
We appreciate your attention to this matter and sincerely hope to see a clear and courageous stance from the Government of Nova Scotia in support of the Iranian people.
Respectfully,

2nd Night:
The Honorable Lena Metlege Diab
Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada
Dear Minister Diab,
We are writing to you as residents of Halifax and the Province of Nova Scotia, with deep concern regarding the ongoing and escalating situation in Iran.
Over the past weeks, the Islamic Republic of Iran has carried out a large-scale and systematic crackdown on the Iranian people. More than forty thousand Iranians have been killed, and the violence, mass arrests, and repression continue unabated. These actions constitute grave crimes against humanity and demand clear and unequivocal condemnation from democratic leaders.
We would like to acknowledge and sincerely appreciate your public support for the Iranian people during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising. Your solidarity during that critical moment was meaningful to our community and demonstrated a principled commitment to human rights and justice.
Today, however, the situation has escalated far beyond a protest movement. What is unfolding in Iran is a nationwide revolution with a clear objective: the end of the current regime and a transition toward a democratic and secular future. The Iranian people are not calling for reform—they are demanding regime change. This reality deserves recognition by democratic governments and leaders.
In this context, we respectfully urge you to acknowledge Prince Reza Pahlavi as the widely recognized leader of the Iranian revolution and the transitional process, and to recognize the Iranian people’s call for a transitional government that reflects their collective will and aspirations.
As Iranian-Canadians and residents of Nova Scotia, we believe Canada and its leaders have a moral responsibility to stand on the right side of history—by moving beyond expressions of concern and toward clear political positions that support freedom, human dignity, and accountability.
We respectfully ask for your continued and strengthened support, consistent with the stance you took during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, and for a clear and transparent position in solidarity with the people of Iran at this critical moment.
Thank you for your time and attention. We hope to see a firm and courageous stance that reflects Canada’s commitment to human rights and democratic values.
Respectfully,
*************************************************************************
3rd Night:
The Honorable Sean Fraser
Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada
Dear Minister Fraser,
We are writing to you as residents of Halifax and the Province of Nova Scotia, with deep concern regarding the ongoing and escalating crimes committed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the serious legal and political implications these crimes have within Canada.
Over recent months, the Islamic Republic has carried out widespread and systematic violence against the Iranian people. Tens of thousands have been killed, arbitrarily detained, or forcibly disappeared. These actions constitute crimes against humanity under international law and have been extensively documented by credible human rights organizations.
At the same time, there is growing and well-founded concern within the Iranian-Canadian community that individuals affiliated with, supportive of, or financially connected to the Islamic Republic are residing in Canada. Some of these individuals are believed to have benefited from corruption, repression, or direct involvement in state crimes. In many cases, they appear to be living freely, transferring assets, and making use of Canada’s legal and financial systems without sufficient scrutiny or accountability.
At the same time, it is essential to emphasize that what is currently unfolding in Iran is not a temporary protest or a reformist movement. It is a nationwide popular revolution aimed at ending the rule of the Islamic Republic and transitioning toward a democratic and secular system. The Iranian people have clearly and unequivocally demanded fundamental change to the existing power structure. This reality deserves recognition and acknowledgment by democratic governments and institutions.
Within this framework, we call for the recognition of the leadership of the Iranian people’s revolution, which is widely recognized both inside and outside Iran as Prince Reza Pahlavi. He represents the political voice of this historic transition and the demand for a transitional government that reflects the will of the Iranian people. Ensuring that the voice of the Iranian people is heard in official forums and parliamentary institutions is essential. Ignoring this political reality directly contributes to the continued lack of accountability and the expansion of impunity for those responsible for state crimes.
As Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, you hold a critical responsibility to uphold the rule of law, ensure accountability, and prevent Canada from becoming a safe haven for perpetrators of human rights violations or those who have profited from repression and corruption.
We respectfully urge your office to:
Ensure thorough investigations into individuals linked to the Islamic Republic who may be involved in human rights abuses, corruption, or sanctions evasion;
Fully enforce Canadian laws related to crimes against humanity, financial crimes, and sanctions compliance;
Strengthen cooperation between judicial authorities, law enforcement agencies, and international partners to identify and prosecute those responsible;
Reassure affected communities that Canada’s justice system will not tolerate impunity for perpetrators of state-sponsored violence.
This request is not rooted in political rhetoric, but in fundamental principles of justice, accountability, and the protection of Canada’s legal integrity. The Iranian-Canadian community seeks clear assurance that Canada stands with victims of oppression, not with those who enabled or benefited from their suffering.
We believe Canada must remain on the right side of history by aligning its legal actions with its stated commitment to human rights, democracy, and the rule of law.
Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent matter.
We respectfully request your serious consideration and concrete action.
Respectfully,
*************************************************************************
4th Night:
Honourable Shannon Miedema Member of Parliament
Dear Ms. Miedema,
We are writing to you as residents of Halifax and the Province of Nova Scotia, with deep concern regarding the ongoing and rapidly escalating situation in Iran.
Over the past weeks, the Islamic Republic of Iran has carried out a large-scale, systematic, and unprecedented crackdown on its own population. Reports indicate that more than forty thousand Iranians have been killed, while mass arrests, violence, and severe repression continue unabated. These actions constitute grave crimes against humanity and demand clear, unequivocal condemnation from democratic representatives and institutions.
We respectfully urge you, as a Member of Parliament, to take a transparent and principled position by publicly condemning the crimes of the Islamic Republic and expressing firm solidarity with the people of Iran.
At the same time, we wish to raise a serious concern regarding the limited and, at times, silenced coverage of these events within Canadian media. Despite the scale and severity of the violence, the situation in Iran has not received proportional or sustained attention. This lack of visibility has left many Iranian-Canadians feeling unheard at a critical moment, when international awareness and political pressure can play a vital role in saving lives.
It is also important to emphasize that what is taking place in Iran is not merely a protest movement. It is a nationwide revolution with a clear objective: the end of the current regime and a transition toward a democratic and secular future. The Iranian people are explicitly calling for regime change, and this political reality deserves recognition and reflection within the legislative bodies of democratic nations.
In this context, we urge you to acknowledge the leadership of Prince Reza Pahlavi as the widely recognized leader of the Iranian revolution and the transitional process, and to recognize the Iranian people’s call for a transitional government that reflects their will and aspirations.
We believe that Members of Parliament in Canada have a moral and human responsibility to stand on the right side of history by defending human dignity, supporting freedom, and standing with people who are risking their lives for their most fundamental rights.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. We sincerely hope to see a clear, courageous, and public stance from you in support of the Iranian people.
Respectfully,
*************************************************************************
5th Night:
Honourable Brendan Maguire MLA for Halifax Atlantic
Dear Mr. Maguire,
We are writing to you as residents of Halifax and the Province of Nova Scotia, with deep concern regarding the ongoing and rapidly escalating situation in Iran.
Over the past weeks, the Islamic Republic of Iran has carried out a large-scale, systematic, and violent crackdown on its own population. Tens of thousands of Iranians have been killed, while mass arrests, violence, and repression continue unabated. These actions constitute grave crimes against humanity and demand clear, unequivocal condemnation from elected representatives in democratic societies.
We respectfully urge you to take a clear and principled public position by condemning the crimes of the Islamic Republic and expressing firm solidarity with the people of Iran.
At the same time, it is essential to emphasize that what is taking place in Iran is not a series of isolated protests. It is a nationwide popular revolution with a clear objective: the end of the Islamic Republic and a transition toward a democratic and secular future. We therefore call on you to recognize the revolutionary nature of the movement in Iranand to reflect this political reality in your public statements and positions.
In this context, we urge you to recognize the leadership of Prince Reza Pahlavi as the widely acknowledged leader of this historic transition, both inside Iran and across the Iranian diaspora, and to support the Iranian people’s call for the establishment of a transitional government that reflects their will and aspirations.
We would also like to acknowledge that your party has, on multiple occasions, demonstrated principled and genuine support for the Iranian people and their pursuit of freedom and human dignity. This record of moral clarity has been recognized and appreciated by many within the Iranian-Canadian community.
We believe that Members of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly have a moral responsibility to stand on the right side of history by defending human dignity, supporting freedom, and standing with people who are risking their lives for their most fundamental rights.
Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. We sincerely hope to see a clear, courageous, and public stance from you in support of the Iranian people and their revolution.
Respectfully,
*************************************************************************
6th Night:
Dear Mr. Stoilov,
I am writing to you as a resident of Nova Scotia and as part of a deeply distressed Iranian-Canadian community.
Nearly 40,000 people in Iran were killed over a total span of approximately 10 to 12 hours by the Islamic Republic. This was not a prolonged conflict or a gradual escalation ,it was a rapid, systematic mass killing.
It has now been almost one month since this catastrophe began, and the continued silence from the international community has become unbearable for Iranians everywhere. For families who are grieving, for those who are still missing loved ones, and for those living under siege, this silence is not passive ,it is devastating.
What is happening in Iran is not a protest movement. It is a nationwide revolution to end the Islamic Republic and transition toward a democratic and secular future. Treating it otherwise distorts reality and delays accountability.
The Iranian people, both inside the country and across the diaspora, have clearly identified Prince Reza Pahlavi as the leader of the transitional period and the unifying alternative to the current regime. This is a political reality that deserves acknowledgment.
As an elected Member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly, we respectfully but firmly ask that you:
Publicly recognize the Iranian revolution as a legitimate popular uprising
Acknowledge Prince Reza Pahlavi as the leader of the transitional period
Use your position to call for concrete international action rather than continued silence
For us, this silence has become maddening. And silence in the face of mass killing is not neutrality ,it is a choice.
We are asking for clarity, responsibility, and action.
We look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
*************************************************************************
7th Night:
Dear Honourable Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada
We are writing to you collectively and simultaneously as Iranians living in Canada—citizens and residents who have built their lives in this country, contribute to its economy, pay taxes, and believe in the democratic values Canada claims to uphold.
We have closely observed the positions and statements taken by the Canadian government in response to conflicts and humanitarian crises in other parts of the world.
For this reason, the silence, hesitation, and lack of a clear position regarding what is currently happening in Iran is deeply troubling and unacceptable to us especially considering that the Iranian community represents one of the largest immigrant communities in Canada.
According to reports, nearly 40,000 Iranians were killed by the Islamic Republic within approximately 15 hours.
Our question is direct and unavoidable:
If another country such as Israel had been responsible for killing this many people in such a short time, would the Government of Canada still be silent as it is now?
To this day, no senior federal official has issued a clear, firm, and unequivocal condemnation of these mass killings.
The Government of Canada has not recognized the Iranian people’s revolution, nor has it recognized the leader of the revolution and the transitional period, Prince Reza Pahlavi.
We must state this clearly:
What is happening in Iran is not a simple protest, nor sporadic unrest.
This is a revolution.
The Iranian people are engaged in a nationwide revolution aimed at ending the Islamic Republic and transitioning toward a secular and democratic system.
Support for the Iranian people is not a favor.
Iranians are not fighting only for themselves, they are fighting for the safety, stability, and security of the entire world. If the Iranian people succeed in removing the Islamic Republic and establishing a secular democratic government, the result will be greater peace not only for Iran, but for the region and beyond.
We therefore demand, clearly and firmly, that the Government of Canada:
• Immediately end all backroom deals, agreements, and covert arrangements with the Islamic Republic;
• Cut all ties with Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) affiliates and operatives who are living in Canada;
• Take a clear, public, and decisive position in support of the Iranian people and their legitimate struggle for freedom.
We declare, as Iranians living in Canada, that we will not remain silent.
We will continue this path and use every available civic and legal means to ensure that the voice of the Iranian people is heard.
Stand with the people.
Stand with justice.
History will judge those who chose silence and those who chose to stand on the right side.
Now is the time for the Government of Canada to stand with us.

8th Night:
Dear Ms. Afshin-Jam,
We are writing this email with respect and based on the record and reputation you hold within the Iranian community of Halifax.
Your presence and activism during the “Woman, Life, Freedom” uprising following the killing of Mahsa Amini, as well as your human rights efforts and legal advocacy on behalf of Iranians who were trapped or at risk, are not forgotten. The Iranian community of Halifax acknowledges and appreciates those efforts, and we believe it is important to clearly thank you for them.
However, today given the current conditions and the stage the Iranian revolution has reached the expectations of the community from individuals with influence and public standing such as yourself are far clearer and more serious than before.
In recent months, your positions and silences regarding the issue of leadership during the transitional period have raised serious concern among many Iranians who are actively engaged in this struggle. This is happening at a time when the demand of a large segment of the Iranian people inside and outside Iran is unmistakably clear:
the recognition of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi as the leader of the transitional period, to move beyond the Islamic Republic and toward a free referendum and a democratic Iran.
In this context, we must explicitly address the issue of Nazanin Boniadi’s appearance in Parliament. A serious and widely shared question within the Iranian community today is: by what mechanism, and by whose mandate, was she presented as a “representative of the Iranian people” and given a platform in Parliament? During that appearance, no clear, explicit, or responsible position was taken in support of the Iranian revolution, nor was there any recognition of the transitional leadership of Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi. This stands in direct contrast to the clear and non-negotiable demands of Iranians today.
We expect that, given your influence, access, and standing within Canadian political and media spaces, you will actively prevent such misrepresentation and influence. Individuals who neither represent the will of the Iranian majority nor clearly reflect the voice of the revolution should not be allowed to speak in the name of the Iranian people in official forums. Our expectation is that genuine, transparent representatives aligned with the clear demands of the Iranian people are the ones who are introduced to and supported in Parliament and other decision making institutions.
This letter is not written in a spirit of confrontation, but out of a sense of responsibility imposed on all of us by this historic moment. The Iranian community of Halifax now more than ever needs clarity, political courage, and alignment with the true and explicit will of the Iranian people.
Respectfully,
*************************************************************************
9th Night:
Dear Mayor of Halifax,
This letter is submitted on behalf of the Iranian community of Halifax in connection with February 14, a day of great significance for Iranians around the world.
On this day, Iranian communities in cities across the globe hold large public gatherings. In Halifax as well, Iranians from across the Atlantic region will come together, making this date one of the largest gatherings of the Iranian community in this region.
In this context, we respectfully but firmly request that the historic Lion and Sun flag of Iran be officially raised at Halifax City Hall on February 14 an action that has already taken place in other cities across Canada.
For our community, this flag represents identity, unity, and the historical aspirations of the Iranian people. Raising it on this day would carry deep symbolic meaning for Iranians.
We emphasize that this request is of great importance to the Iranian community of Halifax, and we will be actively following up on this matter throughout the week until a conclusion is reached. We kindly ask that the necessary arrangements be made to allow this to take place on February 14.
With respect and appreciation, The Iranian Community of Halif
Second part:
Dear Premier Houston,
This letter is sent on behalf of the Iranian-Canadian community of Nova Scotia regarding the ongoing crimes and systematic human rights violations taking place in Iran.
We previously contacted your office concerning the grave and unfolding situation in Iran and the clear expectation of the Iranian community for a principled, public response from Canadian officials, including explicit condemnation of these crimes. To date, however, we have received no response. This lack of acknowledgment has caused serious concern and deep frustration within our community.
We wish to state clearly and directly that silence and inaction in the face of such atrocities—and toward a community that is directly affected by them—are not acceptable. We expect a response and a clear position.
We further note that a large public demonstration will take place in Halifax on February 14, drawing significant participation from across the region. In this context, the absence of any response from provincial leadership is both visible and consequential.
We formally expect a response within the next 48 hours. Please be assured that this matter will be followed up persistently and seriously by our community.
Sincerely, The Iranian-Canadian Community of Nova Scotia

10th Night:
Dear Mayor Fillmore
Thank you for your response and for expressing Mayor Fillmore’s concern regarding the ongoing situation in Iran and the safety of members of Halifax’s Iranian community.
We would like to respectfully state that the City’s decision to refrain from raising the Lion and Sun flag solely on the basis of following federal policy is not acceptable to our community. This is particularly concerning given that this action has been carried out officially in at least four Canadian cities, including Toronto, with clear and documented precedent.
For the Iranian community, the Lion and Sun flag is not a symbol of a foreign government. Rather, it represents our historical and cultural identity, as well as the civil struggle of a people who are currently advocating for freedom, human dignity, and a democratic future. We therefore expect the City of Halifax to adopt the same approach that has been taken by other Canadian municipalities.
At this stage, we believe it is time to move beyond dialogue alone and toward concrete action. The Iranian community of Halifax is seeking a clear and tangible outcome: the official raising of the Lion and Sun flag as a symbol of identity and solidarity for the people of Iran.
Accordingly, we reserve our right to pursue this request in a respectful, civic, and peaceful manner, and we hereby inform you that public gatherings will begin tomorrow in front of Halifax City Hall in support of this demand.
We hope this request will be meaningfully acknowledged and lead to responsible and decisive action.
Sincerely,
